Terms of service
Last updated
These terms are the agreement between you and the operator of CRA Updates. By reading the site or posting to the community, you accept them.
This is a starting draft. It has not been reviewed by a lawyer, and the bracketed values still need filling in before launch.
1. Who we are
craupdates.com is operated by FOSSA, Inc., registered at 595 Market Street, Floor 10, San Francisco, CA 94105. In these terms, “we” and “us” mean that entity, and “you” means anyone using the site.
CRA Updates is an independent community resource brought to you by the team behind FOSSA, a software security and compliance platform. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of the European Commission or any EU institution.
2. This is not legal advice
Everything on this site — articles, summaries, deadline trackers, community answers and expert replies alike — is general information about Regulation (EU) 2024/2847 and related law. It is not legal advice, it is not regulatory guidance, and no lawyer-client or advisory relationship arises from reading it or from posting here.
Compliance obligations depend on your product, your role in the supply chain and your circumstances. Always check the Official text on EUR-Lex and take qualified advice before acting. We do not warrant that anything here is current, complete or correct, and you rely on it at your own risk.
3. Your account
- You must be at least 16 and able to enter a contract. If you sign up on behalf of an employer, you confirm you are authorised to do so.
- Give accurate details and keep them current. One account per person; do not share credentials or let anyone else post under your name.
- You are responsible for everything done through your account. Tell us promptly if you think it has been compromised.
- Stating an organisation beside your name is optional, but if you state one it must be true — readers weigh answers by it.
4. Community rules
The community guidelines set out how the board works in practice and form part of these terms. At a minimum, when you post you agree not to:
- post anything unlawful, defamatory, harassing, hateful, or that infringes someone else’s intellectual property or confidentiality;
- share confidential or personal information about other people — including customers, colleagues or vulnerability details — without the right to do so;
- post marketing, spam, or repeated promotion of a product or service dressed up as an answer;
- misrepresent your identity, employer or credentials, or impersonate anyone else;
- imply that you, your post or this site speaks for the European Commission or any EU institution;
- scrape, overload, probe or otherwise interfere with the site, or attempt to gain access to parts of it you are not authorised to use.
If you are reporting or discussing a vulnerability, follow responsible disclosure: do not post working exploit code or details that would let an unpatched product be attacked.
5. What you post stays yours
You keep ownership of everything you post. You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, display, adapt for formatting, and distribute your content as part of operating and promoting the site, including in feeds and search results. The licence lasts as long as the content remains on the site and survives your account closure to the extent needed to keep the archive intact.
You confirm you have the right to post what you post, and that doing so breaks no agreement you are under — including any obligation to your employer.
6. Moderation
We may edit, move, hide or remove any content, and suspend or close any account, where we reasonably consider these terms have been broken or the community has been harmed. Where it is practical and lawful we will tell you why, and you may appeal by writing to moderator@craupdates.com. Moderation is a judgement call, and we do not promise to review everything posted before it appears.
7. Our content and yours
The site itself — its design, code, wordmark and editorial content — belongs to us or our licensors. You may quote and link to it with attribution; you may not republish it wholesale or present it as your own. Quotations from EU legislation remain subject to the terms of the publisher of the original text.
8. Links to other sites
We link to legislation, regulators, standards bodies and third-party commentary. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content or their privacy practices.
9. Availability
The site is provided “as is” and “as available”. We may change, suspend or discontinue any part of it, and we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free access. Keep your own copy of anything you need to rely on.
10. Liability
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited — including the statutory rights of consumers, which these terms do not affect.
Subject to that, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of profit, revenue, business, goodwill or data, arising from your use of the site or reliance on anything published here. Our total liability to you for all claims in any twelve-month period is limited to €100.
11. Indemnity
If a third party brings a claim against us because of content you posted or because you broke these terms, you agree to cover the reasonable costs and damages we incur as a result.
12. Ending this agreement
You may close your account at any time by writing to privacy@craupdates.com. We may suspend or close it if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, or if we stop operating the site. Sections 2, 5, 7, 10 and 11 survive termination.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top reflects the current version, and we will give notice on the site before a material change takes effect. Continuing to use the site after that counts as acceptance.
14. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of [Ireland], and disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of [the courts of Ireland]. If you are a consumer resident in the EU, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory law of your own country, and you may bring proceedings there.
